Punchak Music
Punchak Music is an international music producer for films (film and television) & advertising, based in Buenos Aires, created in 2006 by composer, performer and music producer Christian BASSO, accompanied by a team of collaborators.
PUNCHAK Music has composed and produced about twenty films and series (Netflix, Amazon, Star+)
His scores for films include "Milyang/SecretSunshine" by Korean director Lee Chang Dong, winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2007, inclusions in the French series "Carlos" by Olivier Assayas, the music for the series "El Maestro ” with the great Julio Chávez as the protagonist and also the inclusion of his song “Flowers” in the film “No returns accepted” by Eugenio Derbez, considered the highest grossing film in the history of Mexican cinema, among many others.
In 2020 he composed the original music for the film "The Country of Last Things", directed by Alejandro Chomsky, with the participation of Paul Auster himself in the adaptation of the script to the film. Soundtrack edited on Spotify.
Lately, his music for the series “Terapia Alternativa” (2021, Star+/KPOW) directed by Ana Katz was nominated for the 2023 Condor Awards for best original music.

Christian took his first steps in his musical career, guided by his father Hector, jazz double bass and tuba player, at the age of 14, playing bass in jazz groups at the Bodega del Café Tortoni in Buenos Aires, together with musicians such as Ricardo Pellican. and Javier Malossetti. A couple of years later, Christian would be part of the stable band of TV Channel 9 in programs like "Sabados de La Goodness" and "Hiperumor" together with the prestigious Uruguayan comedians Frade, Espalter, Almada, Carambula & Co.
Later, already defining his own musical aesthetic, he was part as bassist of groups such as “Clap”, ”Las Ligas” by Charly García, and “Fricción” along with Richard Coleman, Gustavo Cerati and Samalea.
In 1989, Christian was a founding member and ideologue, along with Diego Frenkel, of "La Portuaria", an extinct group, with whom he recorded 6 albums for EMI, touring numerous national and international tours. Some of their songs like “El Bar de La Calle Rodney” or “Selva”, among others, co-authored with Frenkel, evolved to be representative icons of the band. His participation in the band was active, intermittently between 1989, to end in 2023.
In 2000 he was associate producer of the album "Perfume" by María Gabriela Epumer, in which musicians such as Charly Garcia, Robert Fripp, Fito Paez, etc...
Between 2008 and 2010 he worked for US Latin American television. He composed numerous songs for institutional Nickelodeon, MTV, AXN, etc., for Tunaisfresh and Remediaforall production companies in Mexico and the USA.
